You list the words that would build a brighter future Your hands extend opening a portal of light But time is twisted willful and sometimes wicked Cruel design threads its needle through our lives Decisive and divine In this world where each step is a landmine You are a human who chooses what's right The shroud I wear heavy with despair its a shadow Rendering a lifetime reeled in film noir Then willful whispers delivered you while I was listless Even a cynic couldn't fault your heart Persistent in the dark In this world where each step is a landmine You are a man who chooses what's right In this world where each step is a landmine You are a human who chooses what's right In this world where each step is a landmine You are a human who chooses what's right In this world where each step is a landmine You are a man who chooses what's right

Fall Again 03:16
Treading in the dark Liquid rising No horizon I don't know where the half of me went that was you The tinted glasses my prescription for the future The only tender's what's left within Shapes and forms devoid of meaning An aura of pain that radiates A beacon to say that I'm insane A rough hand extends So I fall again So I fall again I search the cavalry of suitors Mirrors of new futures For my face But I can't recognize if who I see is me or you Which chink in my armour manipulates this shifting view Cause I can't trust the sound of how a sound mind should be Each pitch has a certain appeal to me Colours from the prism of possibility The light that emits from every human being A rough hand extends So I fall again So I fall again So I fall again So I fall again

We chase all the fear that's chasing us Under the blue of the moon we repeat it's tune We fly down the city streets at night Freedom's catch twenty two by the time it's noon We move to the groove of the final days Creatures brought bare by desire and longing Championed by those who refuse despair Where there is hope there still is something There is love in honour and honour in love There is love in honour and honour in love There is love in honour and honour in love There is love in honour and honour in love Our house it was once devout And every prayer that was paid was enough to be saved Don't wait I will find my way to you One day we'll see through the haze of the world we set ablaze We move to the groove of the final days Creatures brought bare by desire and longing Championed by those who refuse despair Where there is hope there still is something There is love in honour and honour in love There is love in honour and honour in love There is love in honour and honour in love There is love in honour and honour in love

Pebbles 03:14
I'll see in anyone This means that I am closer We will be friends for real You make me laugh In silence your eyes Smiling we find humour here Now I see why The world could be flat I can trace that line from the cliffs down to the ground Each pebble its own decorated town This means that I am closer Now I see why The world could be flat I can trace that line from the cliffs down to the ground Each pebble its own decorated town You are so warm You are so good And we watch each other carefully

The first breath is arresting We don't all come full circle at the turn of time This chalice has a poisoned rim We sink cognizant and comfortable Knowing that there is no win And the man who's a boy can protect the impregnable Still we all lose some days That's just the way It was as far as we had dreamed The garden grew deep the incense rising Lifted as heat to stars still dying Gone just like magic by the morning We couldn't pull back the glass So we stood watching Our eyes projecting the past Lenses of love of longing To be aware is to tread with care Resting in the pain you're living It was as far as we had dreamed The garden grew deep the incense rising Lifted as heat to stars still dying Gone just like magic by the morning It was as far as we had dreamed The garden grew deep the incense rising Lifted as heat to stars still dying Gone just like magic by the morning It was as far as we had dreamed The garden grew deep the incense rising Lifted as heat to stars still dying Gone just like magic by the morning How long do you stay to honour a dream To honour a dream How long do you stay to honour a dream To honour a dream

FA Anthem 02:11
We drink on a dime We travel on a dime We work for a dime Then we dance for the limelight Legs line the wall to the bathroom stall It's the square who throw shade as they pass our way We've got colours on display and we ain't ashamed We know this is a game ya, and we know how to play We work it ya we workin We work it ya we workin We work it ya we workin We work it ya we workin Cause the tip ain't all that we live for So much more happens once we shut that door It's the naughty ones that grovel they need so much more It don't work that way if you're nice you can stay We work it ya we workin We work it ya we workin We work it ya we workin We work it ya we workin We drink on a dime We travel on a dime We work for a dime So we value our time We drink on a dime We travel on a dime We work for a dime Then we dance for the limelight

Winter 03:35
This old cold winter Like my bones it lives in me Sometimes I call it home The same way it hurts to grow Push through the pain So your heartstrings don't freeze Keep your heart warm So you make it to spring In the meantime the bleak will shift into white As our eyes acclimatize Oh the water will break beneath the ice As we watch each other fall It's not easy Growing honest is always hard This old cold winter Like my bones it lives in me Sometimes I call it home The same way it hurts to grow Still the sun on it's rise Keeps me Pink glow snow blown Pink glow snow blown Pink glow snow blown Pink glow snow blown Pink glow snow blown

We come from a line of powerful women History says a lifetime is short But it can be well spent She knows it's a ride It stops where it stops ya The sights are the sights Still sometimes it breaks her heart Still sometimes it fills her eyes in the dark of the night Silence has a price But still there's a cost to using her voice So if the fuel of that fire ignites As you stand in it's flames Know I see you It's the brave who remain in that light If the battle lasts long Know I feel you We come from a line of powerful women History says a lifetime is short But it can be well spent When I think of time I have to believe That justice presides So if the fuel of that fire ignites As you stand in it's flames Know I see you It's the brave who remain in that light If the battle lasts long Know I feel you If the fuel of that fire ignites As you stand in it's flames Know I see you It's the brave who remain in that light If the battle lasts long Know I feel you We come from a line of powerful women

Revisions 04:16
Changed like a reptile in the shifting light Tongue unraveling new illusions Were these true colours or was I deceived Did they just pop against your new backdrop I fold over revision revision revision revision revision revision And in each version I ask what could have been You wanted to keep the control You said you loved me Said we were chasing the gold But your eyes they stayed shaded To go back to the pause In the quiet snow I remember what your love was Soft in the cold A broken smile Gentle hands You were just a man You wanted to keep the control You said you loved me Said we were chasing the gold But your eyes they stayed shaded I fold over revision revision revision revision revision revision And in each version I ask what could have been I fold over revision revision revision revision revision revision And in each version I ask what could have been I fold over revision revision revision revision revision revision And in each version I ask what could have been I fold over revision revision revision revision revision revision And in each version I ask what could have been I fold over revision revision revision revision revision revision And in each version I ask what could have been I fold over revision revision revision revision revision revision And in each version I ask what could have been

Hazy Days 03:32
Travel stole our lives away as we traversed this space Our choices dissolving like rain eroding the roots we hoped would stay Still we could suspend time while your eyes held mine Well we both know this fire It was fuelled by desire I conspire to be close to you In the scope of this life While our stories align Know that my love for you was true Shedding the years brings me close to my fears I am bound by the fates who cut time Ladies with sheers prune the garden of life When the season is ripe and the sun hits its stride In the heat we were blinded our tears mesmerized us Our orbits collided, then time sacrificed us she sacrificed us Well we both know this fire It was fuelled by desire I conspire to be close to you In the scope of this life While our stories align Know that my love for you was true Well we both know this fire It was fuelled by desire I conspire to be close to you In the scope of this life While our stories align Know that my love for you My love for you was true

about

The conception of the record “Circle Zero” came at a challenging moment in my life. I went through an intense period of loss, not just of people in my world, but also transitioning out of the home I had built, my job, and the musical career I had established collaboratively with my long term partner. Whether or not these songs saw the light of day was less relevant than affirming that I still had the ability to create anything at all, and the knowledge that I could do so on my own, after such an intense shedding of everything in my world. I titled the record “Circle Zero”, aligning at the time with circling the truths in the very little I had left. Because of this, songs on the record touch on the intimate. Revisions is about the experience of gaslighting, Decisive and Divine is about the joy of finding someone who can be a light in dark times, a reminder that goodness still exists in people. Powerful Women is an acknowledgement of the strength embodied between generations. Winter is a plea for a loved one to hold on past their pain. Stars Still Dying is a love letter to my father who passed away. I wanted the music to balance the introspectiveness of these experiences, but still elicit movement and joy. This was easy to achieve while building the record alongside an amazing team of musicians, engineers, artists, and music video crews, who each contributed their energy and vision to bringing the songs to life. I have immense gratitude for my team of creative collaborators. I have realized lately that I seemed to have circled zero again. As we enter the spring of 2022, I am walking a similar path to the one I left, re-entering similar worlds. The best of the old has come forward with me on this journey, and the other space has been filled with new support, new love, a renewed iteration of myself as I circle under the sun.

Thank you for being with me on this moment of my journey.

about

Clea Anaïs

Clea Anaïs’ compositions center on her multifaceted artistic sensibility, and an emotional intelligence as sharp as a shard of bright-coloured crystal. Clea creates art that moves in interesting ways, and through this there are moments when she is vulnerable, and those moments move you because they are some special combo of being listenable, evoking thought/memory, and feeling new.
